The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has initiated a review of the Egyptian Movable Collateral Registry to improve its electronic operating system and service efficiency. The initiative aims to simplify financing procedures and increase the use of movable assets as collateral.
Initial Assessment
The FRA conducted a survey of registered creditors to evaluate the registry’s current procedures and technical mechanisms. Users submitted observations and proposals regarding practical challenges within the system, prompting the authority to organize a formal review process.
Stakeholder Meeting
Mohamed Abdel Aziz, FRA Assistant Chairperson, chaired a meeting at the authority’s headquarters to discuss survey findings. Participants included members of the Movable Collateral Registry Unit, creditor representatives, and officials from E-Finance for Digital and Financial Investments, the system’s operator. The group examined operational challenges and potential service upgrades.
Implementation Phase
The FRA plans to subject all proposals to technical and legal reviews. The authority will coordinate with E-Finance and creditors to determine implementation priorities. This process aims to align the registry with digital transformation goals and the legislative framework governing non-banking financial services.
