National Identity Conference Begins in Alexandria

The “National Identity: Deep Roots and a Renewed Vision” conference opened Monday at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The three-day event gathers government officials, academics, and youth representatives to discuss societal cohesion and cultural preservation in the digital age.

Monday, September 21

The conference commenced under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa stated that the event marks a shift in addressing identity as a pillar for social stability. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Acting Minister of Culture, said identity involves family, education, media, and artificial intelligence. He emphasized that strengthening identity requires empowering generations to engage with modern developments.

Through September 23

The event includes scientific sessions and panel discussions involving approximately 450 young participants. Presidential Advisor Khaled Fouda proposed strategies including digital awareness, content creation, and the establishment of a digital bank for Egyptian folklore. Bibliotheca Alexandrina Director Ahmed Zayed noted the goal is to create practical visions for development.

Conference Outlook

The event will conclude with the release of the “Alexandria Document for National Identity,” which is intended to serve as a sustainable action agenda for the government.
