Egyptian Senior Leaders Report Lack of CEO Successors in New Survey

A recent survey by Atruk Athar Consultancy indicates that one in four senior leaders in Egypt believes their organization lacks a successor prepared to assume the CEO role. The findings, drawn from the Leadership Pulse 2026 report, highlight gaps in leadership development across sectors including banking and professional services.

19-21 September 2026

Atruk Athar hosted a three-day workshop titled “Leadership Behind the Red Nose” at the MINT Hub by EGBANK. The event focused on how executives manage pressure, communication, and responsibility. The consultancy used this forum to address data showing that 80% of respondents consider fewer than 20% of their senior team members ready for top-tier leadership.

Survey Analysis

The data revealed that 72% of leaders frequently project confidence despite feeling uncertainty, while 56% have publicly supported decisions they privately opposed. Yasmine Helal, CEO of Atruk Athar, stated that organizations must prioritize preparing staff for responsibility. The survey also noted that 70% of leaders tend to exhibit aggression or impatience under pressure, rather than curiosity. Additionally, 27% of respondents expressed skepticism about the safety of challenging senior leadership.

Current Leadership Landscape

The consultancy concludes that firms must foster environments where employees can speak openly. The findings suggest a need for deliberate practice in decision-making and conflict management to ensure future leadership readiness.
