Qalyubeya Governorate has handed over 639 of the 703 rural development projects launched under the first phase of Egypt’s presidential Decent Life initiative in Shibin Al‑Qanater, officials said on Sunday.
Project status
The Ministry of Local Development and Environment confirmed the figures during a meeting between Minister Manal Awad and Governor Hossam Abdel Fattah. The remaining 64 schemes are in the final hand‑over stage, with authorities working to bring them into service.
Analysis
Projects span infrastructure, environmental upgrades and local services. Awad urged adherence to construction timetables and efficient use of funds earmarked for roads, urban and rural development, and environmental improvements. The governor highlighted investment opportunities, aiming to attract private capital, generate revenue from state‑owned assets and create jobs.
Officials also reviewed solid‑waste management, noting two new transfer stations at Arab Al‑Aliqat in Khanka and Marsafa in Banha, and efforts to clear long‑standing waste piles. Awad called for faster processing of applications to legalise building violations and to regularise state‑owned land use.
