Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar ordered an expedited rollout of the New Heliopolis Hospital project on Tuesday, boosting the planned capacity from 424 to 495 beds. The decision was taken during a high‑level meeting with representatives of Italy’s San Donato Group, GKSD and energy firm Eni, who are reviewing the hospital’s progress and discussing broader health‑care investment opportunities.
According to Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the delegation examined the implementation status and approved a plan to add 71 new beds. The minister also demanded a concrete timetable for completing both medical and non‑medical furnishings, as well as a thorough review of the facility’s information and communications technology systems before the hospital becomes operational.
Key Measures and Expected Impact
The accelerated schedule aims to ensure the hospital is fully equipped and ready to serve patients efficiently, addressing the growing demand for modern health services in the Heliopolis district. While the ministry did not disclose a final opening date or the total investment value, officials emphasized that the added capacity will expand access to specialized care for thousands of residents.
Future Cooperation
The meeting also explored further collaboration with the Italian partners, looking at potential joint ventures in health‑care project development and additional investment streams that could strengthen Egypt’s medical infrastructure.
