Abertis is winding down two overseas projects as the year ends, but the story differs between India and Italy.
- By late December, the Spanish firm must hand back the 58‑km Jadcherla Expressway and the 94‑km Trichy Tollway to Indian authorities. Both highways were bought from Macquarie in 2016.
- There is no sign of a renewal, meaning Abertis will lose roughly €40 million of gross operating profit each year – about 0.9% of its 2025 earnings.
- In Italy, the fate of A4 Holding, the larger concession acquired in 2016 for €594 million from Intesa, Astaldi and the Tabacchi family, remains uncertain, pending a decision by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The company exits India while its Italian outlook stays in limbo.
