Sumar is turning up the heat on parliamentarians who haven’t yet revealed how they’ll vote on two housing bills slated for a Friday debate. The party released its own estimate of how many households could benefit from an automatic two‑year lease extension for renters whose contracts end before Dec. 31, 2028, a rule announced in the latest housing decree published on Wednesday.
Using its Panel of Households, Sumar projects roughly 1.9 million eligible contracts. Multiplying that by the average household size of 2.5 people reported by the national statistics office, the party says the measure could reach about five million people, a rough forecast rather than a final count.
