PwC Strategy& just released a fresh look at the continent’s push toward electric vehicles. Across Europe, the share of e‑mobility is climbing fast, with many countries already hitting around 21% of new car registrations. Italy, however, is stuck at roughly 8%, a stark contrast that puts the nation well behind its neighbours.
If the current pace holds, the report says Italy won’t hit its zero‑emission target until 2042 – a full decade later than the EU’s 2035 goal. The gap highlights the urgent need for stronger policies, incentives, and infrastructure to get Italian drivers behind the wheel of electric cars sooner.
