Spain Bars Vulture Funds from Buying Homes Below 70% of Value

Spain’s government has rolled out a key part of its housing‑crisis plan, officially published in the BOE.

  1. On Tuesday the cabinet approved two decree‑laws, one of which targets “vulture funds” and other asset‑buying firms.
  2. The new rule forbids these investors from purchasing residential properties for less than 70% of their assessed value.
  3. The restriction takes effect immediately and will stay in force until 31 December 2028, pending a final vote in an extraordinary parliamentary session next Friday.

It’s a clear signal that authorities want to curb speculative buying and protect affordable housing.
