New Data Shows Surge in Immigrant Workers Joining Social Security

Spain’s social security system is seeing a significant boost in new contributors thanks to a recent regularization process. Here is how the numbers are breaking down for these new workers:

  1. Between mid-April and late June, the government received nearly 1.175 million regularization requests.
  2. By July, officials had processed about 608,000 of these applications, granting provisional work and residency permits.
  3. This process has successfully added 421,306 new workers to the social security system.
  4. Impressively, 71% of these newly registered employees come from Latin American countries.

It is clear that this initiative is effectively integrating many foreign workers into the national labor market.
