An Egyptian-Japanese team has just hit a major milestone at the Grand Egyptian Museum, successfully restoring and installing 16 wooden floor pieces from the legendary Second Boat of King Khufu. This delicate work is part of a larger, ongoing effort to piece together the ancient vessel using advanced conservation techniques and custom metal supports. The project is a true collaboration between Egyptian experts and Higashi Nippon International University.
What makes this restoration special is that it isn’t happening behind closed doors. Visitors at the Khufu Boats Museum can actually watch the assembly process in real-time. This hands-on approach offers a rare, educational look at how experts preserve such fragile, ancient history for future generations.
