A clutch performance in Split
Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, has a knack for predicting the future. He recently mentioned that Mikel Merino is exactly the kind of player you need when the pressure is on. He wasn’t wrong.
- Spain found themselves trailing against a fired-up Croatia in wet conditions.
- Merino came off the bench and immediately changed the game’s momentum.
- He netted an impressive double, putting Spain firmly back in control.
- Key saves from goalkeeper Unai Simón helped secure the victory.
This dramatic win officially punches Spain’s ticket to the Nations League quarterfinals this March.
