H&L Egypt Increases Investment for New South Korean Sportswear Plant

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has officially begun construction on a new South Korean sportswear manufacturing facility in the West Qantara Industrial Zone. The H&L Egypt Apparel project has doubled its initial investment to $30 million. SCZONE chairperson Mostafa Shikhon and South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Kim Wan-jong attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday.

The 42,000-square-metre site will feature advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainable infrastructure. Officials stated the plant will generate approximately 2,000 direct jobs. This project marks the first South Korean investment within the SCZONE, following a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two nations. The facility aims to enhance Egypt’s textile and garment export capabilities through modern production standards.
