Spanish unions demand 7% increase in minimum wage for 2027

Spain’s two largest trade unions, CC OO and UGT, said on Tuesday they will press the government for a 7% rise in the national minimum wage next year. The unions aim to lift the minimum wage to above €1,300 per month in 14 installments, or over €1,500 in 12 installments.

CC OO secretary general Unai Sordo and UGT secretary general Pepe Álvarez announced the demand in a joint statement. They said the increase is needed to keep pace with inflation and to improve living standards for low‑paid workers.

The proposal comes as the government prepares its 2027 budget. Officials have not yet responded to the unions’ call.
