The adopted opinion calls for increased funding for charging infrastructure, incentives for EV purchases, and streamlined regulations to accelerate market uptake. It also urges member states to coordinate supply‑chain strategies for batteries and rare‑earth materials.
Officials said the measures are intended to align the automotive sector with the EU’s climate targets and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The package complements broader EU initiatives on green mobility and industrial competitiveness.
