Milan Names Plaza After Nobel Laureate Dario Fo

The city of Milan has officially dedicated a public square to the late playwright and Nobel laureate Dario Fo. Municipal officials announced the naming ceremony this week, honoring the artist’s significant contributions to Italian theater and culture. During the event, city representatives stated that Fo’s legacy resists simple categorization due to the breadth of his work.

Fo’s granddaughter, who attended the dedication, expressed hope that the nearby Palazzina Liberty would be transformed into a permanent memorial space for the author. She suggested the venue could serve as both a theater and a site for cultural remembrance. Fo, a prominent satirist and political activist, died in 2016. His work remains a staple of European performance art.
