Alejandro Davidovich advanced to the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters on Thursday after his opponent, Arthur Gea, withdrew from the match. Gea retired after 24 minutes of play due to a psoas injury, trailing 4-1 at the time of the stoppage.
This result marks the first time the 27-year-old Spaniard has reached the final four at the Shanghai tournament. It is his fourth career appearance in a Masters 1000 semifinal, following previous runs in Monte Carlo in 2022 and 2025, and Canada in 2023. Davidovich will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur. That match is scheduled for later today. Elsewhere in the tournament, Rafa Jódar is set to compete against Casper Ruud on Friday. #Tennis #ShanghaiMasters #ATP @atptour @AlexDavidovichF
