Egyptian government officials discussed plans to enhance economic ties with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) during meetings in Bangkok. Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom and Foreign Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty met with JICA First Vice President Yuko Mitsui to outline new strategies for attracting Japanese capital to Egypt.
Rostom proposed an Infrastructure Financing Guarantee Facility designed to secure funding for national priority projects. The mechanism targets sectors including seawater desalination, wastewater recycling, green transport, and renewable energy. The Egyptian government stated these initiatives aim to increase private sector participation and reduce carbon emissions.
The ministers also reviewed ongoing structural reforms, citing new tax and customs incentives for investors. Officials emphasized the need to leverage Japanese technology to improve supply chain efficiency.
