Galleria Borghese Launches Competition to Expand Museum Space

The Galleria Borghese has launched an international design competition aimed at expanding the museum’s functional space. Officials announced the initiative this week, seeking proposals to enhance the visitor experience and improve accessibility within the historic site.

Museum director Francesca Cappelletti emphasized that the project will respect the integrity of the existing structure. While the building itself will remain unchanged, the competition focuses on optimizing internal flow and visitor services. The museum aims to modernize its facilities without compromising the architectural heritage of the 17th-century villa. Interested architects and design firms may now submit their applications for consideration.
