Road fatalities in Italy decreased by 5.3% over the last year, according to data released by the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI). Despite the reduction in deaths, the total number of accidents on the country’s roads rose by 2.2%. The number of individuals injured in these collisions also increased by 1.7%.
Geronimo La Russa, president of the ACI, stated that road safety requires a focus on cultural change rather than relying solely on technological solutions or punitive measures. La Russa emphasized that education and behavioral shifts are essential components of improving overall safety standards for motorists and pedestrians alike.
