Spain Maintains Fuel Tax Cuts as Inflation Data Confirms September Figures

The Spanish government will continue its tax relief measures for gasoline and diesel following confirmation that fuel prices rose by more than 15% in September. The National Statistics Institute (INE) released the data yesterday, validating earlier reports that the country’s overall inflation rate reached 4.9% for the month.

Officials stated that the existing anti-crisis measures remain necessary to mitigate the economic impact of the conflict in Ukraine. The government extended these fiscal protections last month, noting that inflation would be significantly higher without the intervention. The current policy aims to stabilize domestic costs while monitoring ongoing price volatility across the energy sector.
