Former National Gallery Director Donates Torquato Tasso Bust to Capodimonte

A sculpture depicting the poet Torquato Tasso has been donated to the Capodimonte Museum by the former director of the National Gallery. The artwork is the work of Francesco De Matteis, a sculptor from the Puglia region.

Museum officials confirmed the acquisition, which adds a piece by the 18th-century artist to their permanent collection. De Matteis is known for his contributions to the Neapolitan school of sculpture. The donation represents a significant addition to the institution’s holdings of historical portraiture. The museum has not yet announced when the bust will be placed on public display. #ArtNews #Capodimonte #TorquatoTasso #MuseumDonation @Capodimonte_Mus
