Italian actor and presenter Ettore Bassi told reporters that a contemporary version of Alessandro Manzoni’s novel The Betrothed would likely turn into a “very long TV series” if produced today. Bassi made the comment while promoting the upcoming autumn season of the comedy series Questo matrimonio non s’ha da fare, which will resume filming in Sardinia.
He noted that the novel’s intricate plot and numerous sub‑stories would be difficult to condense into a limited‑run drama, suggesting that streaming platforms might prefer an extended format. The new season of the sitcom is set to air later this year, featuring Bassi in a leading role.
