The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has been ranked the safest bank in Egypt for 2026 by Global Finance magazine, marking its sixth consecutive year at the top of the list. The award is part of the publication’s 35th annual global ranking, which evaluates the world’s 1,000 largest banks using long‑term foreign‑currency credit ratings from Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch.
CEO Mohamed El‑Etreby said the recognition underscores NBE’s ability to meet international technical and legal standards despite economic challenges and market volatility. He added that the rating boosts confidence in the bank’s stability, encourages stronger partnerships and reflects the broader resilience of Egypt’s banking sector amid ongoing reforms.
