Rising housing costs have pushed an additional 770,000 employed individuals below the poverty line, according to a report released Tuesday by Oxfam Intermón. The study, titled When Working Is Not Enough, indicates that high rental and mortgage expenses are significantly impacting the financial stability of the workforce.
Oxfam estimates that approximately three million workers currently live in poverty when housing costs are factored into their income. If these expenses were excluded, the figure would drop to 2.2 million. The data shows the labor poverty rate increases by four percentage points—rising from 11.48% to 15.49%—once costs such as rent, mortgages, and property-related taxes are deducted from employee earnings. #Economy #HousingCrisis #Oxfam @Oxfam @OxfamIntermon
