Volkswagen Recalls Over 70,000 Electric Vehicles Worldwide Over Battery Faults

Volkswagen AG announced a global recall of more than 70,000 electric cars because of defective battery units.

  1. On Monday, the automaker issued a safety notice covering all affected models sold since 2021.
  2. The recall targets roughly 10,000 vehicles registered in Germany, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority.
  3. Owners will be instructed to bring their cars to authorized service centers for battery replacement at no cost.
  4. Volkswagen said the defect could lead to reduced driving range and, in rare cases, a fire risk.
  5. The company plans to complete the remediation by the end of the fourth quarter.

Volkswagen will monitor the situation and work with regulators to ensure compliance. #Volkswagen #EV #Recall @Volkswagen
