Michelin and CarpeCarbon to Build CO2 Capture Plant in Italy

Michelin and climate technology startup CarpeCarbon have announced plans to construct a direct air capture facility in Cuneo, Italy. The plant aims to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, marking a collaboration between the tire manufacturer and the startup.

Second half of 2027

The facility is scheduled to become operational during the second half of 2027. According to the project specifications, the plant will possess the capacity to capture 300 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Current status

The project represents a commitment to carbon removal technology at the Cuneo site. Both organizations are currently preparing the site for the installation of the capture technology ahead of the 2027 launch date.

Why it matters: This initiative highlights the growing corporate investment in carbon capture technologies as industrial manufacturers seek methods to offset emissions. For global industries, including those in the Middle East looking to diversify energy strategies, such projects demonstrate the integration of atmospheric cleanup solutions into existing manufacturing infrastructure.
