Aequs Reports Increased Quarterly Loss Despite Revenue Growth

Contract manufacturing firm Aequs reported a consolidated net loss of ₹52.4 crore for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, marking a 154.4% increase compared to the same period last year. The company’s losses grew from ₹20.6 crore reported in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Despite the widening losses, Aequs saw significant growth in its top-line figures. Operating revenue for the quarter reached ₹409.1 crore, a 45.3% increase over the ₹281.6 crore reported during the same period last year. Sequentially, the company’s revenue grew 3.4% from the ₹395.5 crore recorded in the first quarter of FY27, while the net loss decreased slightly from ₹53.2 crore.

Financial Performance Breakdown

The company reported a total income of ₹419.7 crore for the quarter, which includes ₹10.6 crore in other income. However, operating expenses rose at a faster rate than revenue. Excluding finance costs, depreciation, and amortization, expenses increased 56.2% to ₹395.2 crore, up from ₹253.1 crore in the previous year.

Aequs’ revenue is primarily driven by its aerospace division, which generated ₹351.4 crore this quarter. This represents a 44.2% increase from the ₹243.7 crore generated in the corresponding quarter last year. The company’s consumer business also reported growth, with revenue rising 52% to reach ₹57.7 crore, compared to ₹37.9 crore in the prior year.

Why it matters:

The financial results highlight the challenges contract manufacturers face in balancing rapid expansion with rising operational costs. For investors and industry analysts, the data illustrates how aggressive investment in aerospace and consumer segments can lead to increased revenue while simultaneously impacting short-term profitability due to higher expenditure.
