BioStack, a health technology company, has secured $9.5 million in seed funding to expand its data infrastructure network and grow its research teams. The investment round was led by Peak XV, with participation from Afore Capital, DCVC, Emerson Collective, SV Angel, Verdict Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Y Combinator.
Connecting Fragmented Health Data
The startup focuses on creating workflows that unify clinical information across disparate health systems and geographies. By aggregating notes, laboratory results, imaging, medications, and treatment outcomes, BioStack aims to provide a comprehensive view of patient journeys. The company stated that it currently has access to more than 100 million de-identified patient records across the United States, India, Brazil, and Argentina.
“Collecting every event linked to each patient enables a view of what happens at each stage of a patient’s journey,” said Sanat Mishra, co-founder and CEO of BioStack. “We are building the infrastructure that connects all of the clinical information and makes it useful, both for clinicians making decisions today and for the researchers and AI developers building the future of medicine.”
Training Next-Generation AI
BioStack creates proprietary datasets by combining de-identified information from provider systems. To date, the company has integrated several hundred thousand fragmented X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, along with millions of telehealth audio transcripts. This data is linked with pathology and clinical records to help researchers understand disease progression and treatment responses.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand its operations internationally and further develop its technology platform. By creating a feedback loop between clinical care and medical innovation, BioStack intends to provide resources for training AI agents to assist clinicians in evaluating treatment options.
