Ather Energy has shifted from significant losses to profitability, marking a turnaround for the electric two-wheeler manufacturer. The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1.26 crore for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, a stark contrast to the Rs 154 crore loss recorded during the same period a year ago.
Corporate Growth and AI Investment
The company’s total income rose by 62% year-on-year to Rs 1,527 crore, a result attributed to increased vehicle sales and improved operational efficiency. This financial shift highlights the company’s progress in scaling its operations.
Beyond the electric vehicle sector, the broader technology market is seeing significant capital movement toward artificial intelligence. Meta Platforms has announced plans to raise approximately $35 billion through stock and convertible preferred-stock offerings. These funds are designated for expanding AI infrastructure, including data centers and computing capacity. The parent company of Facebook and Instagram also outlined a potential separate share-sale program of up to $60 billion in 2027, which could bring its total planned equity fundraising to $95 billion.
Simultaneously, Tata Communications is investing $450 million to develop a high-speed fiber network. This infrastructure aims to connect AI data centers, addressing the surging demand for reliable, high-capacity connectivity required for large-scale computing workloads.
Market Activity in Travel and Tech
Other sectors are also showing signs of recovery and expansion. Travel booking platform MakeMyTrip reported a net profit of $1.8 million for Q2 FY27, compared to a $5.7 million loss in the previous year. Revenue grew 2.5% year-on-year to $235.2 million. Meanwhile, AI developer Anthropic has filed for an initial public offering on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol ANT. In the healthtech space, BioStack secured $9.5 million in seed funding led by Peak XV to support international expansion and clinical research technology.
