Fintech Startup Mochatrade Secures $5.5 Million Seed Funding

Indian fintech startup Mochatrade has raised $5.5 million in a seed funding round to develop a platform for trading US stock tokens. CoinFund led the investment, with participation from Coinbase Ventures and Zero Knowledge Ventures.

The company plans to use the capital to improve its trading engine and risk infrastructure, as well as to expand its user base among active Indian traders. Founded in 2026 by Utkarsh Sinha, Chetan Manda, and Parth Maheshwari, the platform allows users to trade perpetual futures and price-tracking contracts linked to US stocks, cryptocurrencies, commodities, and major indices.

Platform Features and Functionality

Mochatrade aims to enable Indian retail traders to fund accounts using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and track financial metrics in Indian rupees. The platform’s perpetual futures contracts allow traders to take long or short positions on assets without owning them. Unlike traditional futures, these instruments do not have fixed expiry dates.

The startup will also offer leveraged trading, which allows users to take larger positions with less capital. The company notes that leverage can amplify both gains and losses. Future plans include the introduction of pre-IPO company contracts, US stock options, and social trading features, pending regulatory approval.

CEO Utkarsh Sinha stated that there is significant appetite for trading in India, but existing products for accessing US markets often lack local integration. The startup has recorded over 25,000 sign-ups on its waitlist, though a public launch date remains unannounced.

Market Context

Mochatrade enters the market as Indian investors increasingly seek exposure to global assets. According to Reserve Bank of India data, Indian residents remitted $2.65 billion overseas for equity and debt investments in fiscal year 2026, an increase from $1.51 billion in fiscal year 2024.
