Cybersecurity startup Protectt.ai has announced plans to acquire a controlling stake in AIShield, an artificial intelligence security platform incubated by Bosch Global Software Technologies. Bosch will retain a minority interest in the business, which specializes in defending machine learning models and generative AI applications against manipulation and compliance risks.
2020: Foundation of Protectt.ai
Manish Mimani and Mohanraj Selvaraj established Protectt.ai to provide mobile threat defense solutions. The company currently monitors mobile application sessions and secures mobile devices, providing compliance tools for organizations such as the RBI, SEBI, and NPCI.
2022: AIShield Incubated at Bosch
Shiv Kumar and Amit Phadke founded AIShield within Bosch Global Software Technologies. The startup developed security solutions designed to protect AI supply chains and verify the integrity of generative AI models for enterprise clients.
Transaction Details
Protectt.ai, backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, will execute the acquisition through a mix of cash, secondary components, and employee stock ownership plans. The companies did not disclose the financial value of the deal. Following the transaction, AIShield will operate as an independent entity with its own management team. Protectt.ai intends to leverage AIShield’s capabilities to expand its mobile-focused security offerings into broader enterprise AI markets, including government and private sector partnerships.
Current Status
The acquisition allows Protectt.ai to integrate AI model scanning and agent security into its existing product roadmap. While some Protectt.ai staff will transition to AIShield, the company plans to focus on research and development to build an AI security platform capable of supporting both mobile and enterprise environments.
Why it matters: As enterprises increasingly integrate AI agents into daily operations, the risk of cyberattacks targeting these models grows. This deal highlights a strategic shift toward securing AI supply chains, a critical concern for global digital infrastructure and regulatory compliance in emerging tech markets.
