Egypt Industry Minister Inspects Arab International Optronics Facilities

Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, conducted an inspection of the Arab International Optronics (AIO) facilities to evaluate the company’s manufacturing capacity and its role in infrastructure and smart city development. The visit aimed to assess the integration of advanced technology into Egypt’s domestic industrial sector.

Review of Manufacturing Capabilities

During the tour, Minister Hashem examined several production lines, including those dedicated to smart security systems, energy-efficient lighting, and solar panels. He also inspected the company’s electronics manufacturing and smart meter production. The minister reviewed laboratory facilities accredited by the Egyptian National Accreditation Council (EGAC), which perform technical testing and calibration services.

Workforce Development Initiatives

The minister received a briefing on technical training programs designed to enhance skills in electronics manufacturing. This includes an internationally recognized curriculum that prepares engineers and technicians for the Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) qualification. The training focuses on applying global standards to electronic assembly and soldering processes. While meeting with personnel undergoing this training, Hashem emphasized that skilled labor remains essential for industrial competitiveness and sustainability.

Strategic Industrial Alignment

Hashem stated that electronics, technological solutions, and solar energy are critical sectors targeted under Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030. The ministry aims to integrate these industries into global supply chains to increase exports and meet domestic demand. The minister noted that AIO plays a significant role in the government’s broader efforts to deepen local manufacturing and localize advanced technologies.
