Freshworks Acquires AI Startup Robusta to Expand IT Operations Capabilities

Nasdaq-listed software firm Freshworks has acquired Israel-based artificial intelligence startup Robusta Dev to enhance its IT service management platform, Freshservice. The acquisition aims to integrate AI-driven tools for diagnosing technology outages and automating corrective actions within enterprise environments.

Integration of AI Capabilities

Freshworks plans to incorporate Robusta’s technology into its Freshservice platform. The startup, founded by Natan Yellin and Arik Alon, utilizes AI agents to analyze monitoring data, infrastructure information, and configuration changes to identify the root causes of service disruptions. According to Freshworks, this technology is designed to reduce manual investigations by consolidating alerts and recommending resolutions that engineers can review before implementation.

Strategic Expansion

This transaction follows a series of recent acquisitions by Freshworks aimed at bolstering its incident management and software governance offerings. In December 2023, the company acquired US-based incident management firm FireHydrant. Earlier this month, Freshworks announced an agreement to purchase Torii, a SaaS management platform focused on software usage tracking and AI spending governance.

Financial and Operational Context

Freshworks reported a net loss of $4.8 million for the first quarter of 2026, despite a 16% year-over-year revenue increase to $228.6 million. The company also disclosed plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 11%, or 500 employees, citing a strategic shift toward increasing AI use in product development and automating routine workflows.

Current Status of Service Operations

By integrating Robusta, Freshworks intends to connect incident diagnosis, response, and prevention workflows. The company stated this move will assist businesses in utilizing data from previous outages to minimize recurring disruptions. The deal expands the firm’s broader strategy of automating IT workflows to assist enterprises in managing technology incidents.
