Indian artificial intelligence startups are increasingly establishing operations in the United States while maintaining significant workforces in India. Companies such as Reo.Dev, Coreworks AI, and RapidCanvas are expanding their presence in American markets to access customers and specialized talent, despite keeping core development teams in India.
Growth in Funding and Global Reach
Investment in the sector has risen significantly. According to the Inc42 Indian Tech Startup Funding Report, Indian AI firms secured $438 million in the third quarter of 2026, representing a 265% increase compared to the previous year. Total funding for the first nine months of 2026 exceeded $1.1 billion.
Reo.Dev, which raised $11.3 million in July 2026, plans to use the capital to scale sales and marketing in the U.S., where it derives nearly two-thirds of its revenue. Similarly, RapidCanvas recently secured $29 million to grow its engineering and market teams across the U.S., India, and Brazil. Coreworks AI raised $5 million earlier this year for its enterprise platform.
Strategic Shifts in AI Development
Industry observers note that the shift toward Silicon Valley involves more than fundraising. Suhas Motwani, cofounder of The Product Folks, stated that while the corridor between India and the U.S. is useful, founders must carefully manage what is built in each location. For enterprise AI startups, proximity to customers helps navigate complex procurement processes, security requirements, and the demonstration of measurable returns on investment.
Winning enterprise contracts now requires understanding specific business workflows and operational risks rather than merely demonstrating technical capability. Founders are weighing the benefits of this proximity against the risks of relocating too early in their development cycle.
