Delhi-based B2B e-commerce firm Bijnis has rebranded as Zorit and secured ₹27 crore in a funding round led by Sparrow Capital. The startup intends to utilize the capital to expand its inventory-led quick-commerce infrastructure and broaden its product range for offline retailers.
Existing investors, including Info Edge and WaterBridge Ventures, participated in the round. Other backers included Better Capital and angel investors such as Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, Shiprocket founders, Xpressbees CEO Mohit Sardana, and SoftBank’s Sarthak Misra, according to the company.
Transition to Quick Commerce
Founded in 2015 by Siddharth Vij, Chaitanya Rathi, Siddharth Rastogi, and Sachin Chauhan, the company originally operated as a digital marketplace connecting manufacturers with retailers. In late 2024, the business pivoted to an inventory-led model, stocking products in local dark stores to facilitate faster delivery.
The company stated its current model enables delivery within 60 minutes, an improvement over its previous seven-to-eight-day delivery cycle. Zorit currently operates 12 dark stores across 12 cities and reports annualized sales of ₹120 crore. The startup claims nearly half of these locations have reached break-even status.
Operational History and Market Impact
The company previously faced significant financial difficulties. In 2023, investor Info Edge wrote off its entire ₹76.6 crore investment in the firm, citing high cash burn and uncertainty regarding future fundraising. Prior to this, the entity had raised over $43 million under the Bijnis brand.
CEO Siddharth Vij said the new model has increased monthly ordering frequency fivefold and improved retailer retention fourfold compared to the previous iteration. The company reported that 60% of its current retailer base had not previously used an online B2B platform.
