Fino Payments Bank Reports Second Consecutive Quarterly Loss

Fino Payments Bank recorded a net loss of ₹20.9 crore for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. This marks the company’s second consecutive quarter of losses following operational disruptions encountered earlier this year.

February 2027

The company experienced operational disruptions during this period, which management cited as a contributing factor to the subsequent financial downturn. This event preceded the current streak of quarterly losses.

June 2027 Quarter

In the preceding quarter, Fino Payments Bank reported a net loss of ₹13.7 crore. Financial data indicates that the net loss widened by 52.3% in the current reporting period.

Q2 FY27 Results

For the quarter ending in the current fiscal year, total income fell 16.6% year-on-year to ₹333.6 crore, down from ₹400.1 crore reported in the same period last year. However, compared to the June quarter, total income rose by 8.7% from ₹306.9 crore. Other income, which includes fees from banking and payment services, dropped 23.8% year-on-year to ₹259.2 crore. Conversely, interest earned on investments and advances increased by 24% to ₹74.5 crore. Total expenditure, excluding provisions and contingencies, decreased 6.4% to ₹354.5 crore but remained higher than total income.

Financial Standing

Fino Payments Bank currently faces a period of contraction, with year-on-year income declines and sustained losses. While interest-based earnings showed growth, the decrease in service-based fee income contributed to the overall negative financial performance.

Why it matters: This report highlights the volatility in the digital banking sector, where operational stability is critical to maintaining profitability. For investors and stakeholders in emerging fintech markets, the results illustrate how service disruptions can have lingering financial consequences even as the bank attempts to recover its revenue streams.
