Real Madrid Faces Racing Amid Injuries and Suspension Ahead of La Liga Clash

Real Madrid will travel to face Racing Club de Ferrol on Sunday at 16:15 GMT in the 11th round of La Liga, missing midfielder Federico Valverde and winger Vinícius Júnior.

Key takeaways

• Injury absence: Valverde left the El Clásico injured and will not be available for the match.
• Suspension impact: Vinícius serves the third of a four‑match ban imposed by the disciplinary committee.
• Managerial aim: Coach José Mourinho seeks a win to keep Madrid three points behind Barcelona.
• Racing’s form: Racing ended a four‑game winless streak with a victory over Espanyol.
• Relegation concerns: Racing aims to move away from the bottom of the table.

Real Madrid’s lineup challenges

Portuguese manager José Mourinho confirmed that midfielder Federico Valverde will miss the encounter after sustaining an injury during the recent match against Barcelona at Camp Nou. The club has not disclosed the severity of the injury, but Valverde is expected to undergo further assessment.

Winger Vinícius Júnior, who received a four‑match suspension for disciplinary reasons, will sit out his third game. The ban reduces the attacking options available to Mourinho, who must adjust his tactics accordingly.

Racing’s recent turnaround

Racing Club de Ferrol broke a four‑match winless run by defeating Espanyol in their previous fixture. The victory lifts the team slightly up the table and provides momentum as they prepare to host Madrid.

Racing’s manager emphasized the need to secure points to distance the club from the relegation zone, stating that every match is critical for their survival hopes.

Implications for the title race

Madrid aims to maintain its pursuit of the league crown by staying within three points of leaders Barcelona, who recorded a 4‑0 win over Alavés on Saturday. A positive result in Ferrol would preserve Madrid’s momentum and keep pressure on the Catalan side.

Why it matters:

The match could influence the championship race in Spain’s top division and affect the relegation battle. For Middle Eastern and Egyptian fans following La Liga, the outcome determines whether Real Madrid remains a contender for the title and how Racing’s fight for survival unfolds.
