Fireside Ventures Co-founder Vinay Singh Steps Down

Vinay Singh, co-founder and partner at Fireside Ventures, is departing from the investment firm after nearly 10 years. The consumer-focused venture capital firm announced the transition but has not named a successor.

2017

Vinay Singh co-founded Fireside Ventures alongside partners Kanwaljit Singh, Kannan Sitaram, and Dipanjan Basu. The firm established itself as a major consumer-focused fund in India, building a portfolio of more than 65 startups.

December 2023

Fireside Ventures closed its fourth fund, raising approximately $253 million. The firm currently oversees more than $650 million in assets under management, supported by a team of 12 principals and vice presidents.

Recent Departures

The venture capital industry has seen several senior departures this year. Partners from Peak XV Partners, including Ashish Agrawal, Ishaan Mittal, and Tejeshwi Sharma, left to establish Mettle Capital. Additionally, Anjana Sasidharan left L Catterton in March to launch Asthrum Capital, while another team from Peak XV launched Ambition Capital.

Future Outlook

Singh, an alumnus of IIM Bangalore with previous experience at Hindustan Unilever and Bankbazaar, stated he intends to explore “agentic commerce” and its impact on consumption patterns. He cited the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence as a primary driver for his next career chapter.

Why it matters: This leadership change reflects a broader trend of experienced venture capital partners leaving established firms to launch independent investment funds. These shifts in leadership and capital allocation can influence emerging startup ecosystems and investment strategies across global markets.
