Travel distribution platform TBO Tek posted a net profit of ₹76 crore for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, a 12.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The company recorded ₹67.6 crore in profit during the corresponding quarter in 2026.
Revenue Growth and Operational Challenges
Operating revenue for the quarter ending in September reached ₹865.6 crore, representing a 52.6% increase year-on-year. However, the company experienced a sequential decline, with revenue falling 6.5% from the ₹925.8 crore reported in the June quarter. Net profit also dipped 8.8% sequentially from ₹83.4 crore.
Total expenses rose significantly, climbing nearly 54.8% to ₹780.7 crore, up from ₹504.5 crore in the prior year. Service fees, the primary expense driver, increased 49.2% to ₹304.6 crore, while employee benefit costs surged 76.8% to ₹190.7 crore.
Exceptional Expenses and Legal Action
The company disclosed an exceptional expense of ₹8.14 crore during the quarter. This charge stems from suspected collusion involving current and former employees at its overseas subsidiary and the holding company. TBO Tek reported that it has initiated legal proceedings and begun the process for an insurance claim.
The firm stated that its assessment of the financial loss is preliminary and may be adjusted following a detailed review. Despite these challenges, profit before tax rose 17% to ₹91.5 crore, up from ₹78.2 crore in the previous year’s second quarter.
Why it matters: This financial report highlights the volatility in the travel distribution sector, where rapid revenue growth is often offset by escalating operational and employee costs. For investors, the disclosure of internal collusion and subsequent financial losses underscores the importance of corporate governance and risk management within travel technology firms operating across international borders.
