Startups across India secured $115 million in capital last week, a slight increase from the previous week’s $96 million but reflective of a broader trend of restrained investment. The total was spread across 29 deals, with large-value transactions remaining absent from the market as 2026 nears its conclusion.
Investment Trends and Notable Deals
The healthtech sector led the week’s activity, with Cent securing a $15 million investment. Artificial intelligence companies also maintained a presence, with both Simplismart and Live2.ai raising $14 million each. While venture capital activity remains subdued, industry analysts expect this environment to persist through the end of the year, with potential for recovery shifting toward 2027.
Separately, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved a deal for the Dutch investment firm Prosus to acquire a stake in the fintech company Navi. This follows a $100 million investment by Prosus in August, which served as Navi’s first institutional funding round. The approval allows Prosus to further expand its footprint within India’s digital financial services sector.
Global Market Developments
Beyond regional venture capital, international corporations are reporting tangible financial returns from artificial intelligence integration. Santander reported that its AI initiatives generated €194 million ($216 million) in business value during the first nine months of 2026. Similarly, Google Cloud reported that its quarterly revenue exceeded $31 billion, while companies like Novartis, Standard Chartered, and Meta also cited operational gains or increased advertising revenue linked to the technology.
In the cryptocurrency sector, Binance announced it has recovered approximately 95% of the $6.3 billion in assets lost during a recent security breach. The exchange, which used company reserves to replenish the funds, stated that users would not incur financial losses. Withdrawals are currently being restored in phases following security audits.
