Lyva Unveils Five Electric Concepts at EICMA in Milan

Lyva, the new electric mobility brand of China’s Luyuan Group, showcased five concept vehicles at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan on Saturday.

Key takeaways

  • Five concepts displayed: The lineup includes two scooters, two motorcycles and a compact electric bike.
  • BMW licensing: All five concepts are built on technology licensed from BMW.
  • Design focus: Lyva emphasizes lightweight frames and modular battery packs.
  • Market ambition: The brand aims to enter European markets within two years.
  • Production timeline: Prototypes are slated for limited series production by early 2025.

Debut at EICMA

The EICMA exhibition in Milan, one of the world’s largest two‑wheel motor shows, served as Lyva’s first public appearance. Representatives from Luyuan Group highlighted the brand’s intent to combine Chinese manufacturing scale with European design standards.

BMW technology partnership

Lyva’s concepts incorporate powertrains and battery management systems licensed from BMW. The partnership allows Lyva to use proven electric motor designs while adapting them to its own chassis and styling.

Design and specifications

According to the launch materials, the two scooters feature 12 kW motors and removable 2.5 kWh batteries. The motorcycles are equipped with 25 kW motors and 5 kWh packs, offering ranges of up to 150 km. The compact electric bike uses a 5 kW hub motor and a swappable 1 kWh battery.

Future plans

Luyuan Group plans to begin limited production of the concepts in its Shanghai facility by early 2025, with a rollout to select European cities later that year. The company said it will seek additional licensing agreements to broaden its technology base.

Why it matters: Lyva’s entry into the European electric two‑wheel market introduces new competition for established brands and signals growing Chinese investment in mobility solutions that could affect pricing and technology adoption across the region, including the Middle East and Egypt.
