Construction crews in 6th of October City are moving toward a 2027 deadline for a new automotive facility dedicated to electric vehicles. Mansour Group officials confirmed the timeline for their “MAC for Transport Vehicles Manufacturing” plant during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday.
Project Scope and Objectives
The facility, which began construction in late 2025, focuses on producing electric vehicles and their components. Sir Mohamed Mansour, chairman of the Mansour Group, stated that the project aims to satisfy domestic demand for electric transportation. He added that the factory will create thousands of jobs upon completion.
The company intends to use eco-friendly technologies at the site. Mansour described the project as a step toward making the facility a significant automotive hub for Egypt and the broader African market. The meeting included Mansour Automotive CEO Ankush Arora and Man Capital Strategic Advisor Oliver Dowden.
Government Support and Strategy
Prime Minister Madbouly linked the project to the National Automotive Industry Development Programme. He noted that the government remains committed to localizing manufacturing and attracting foreign direct investment. Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem emphasized that domestic production of batteries and electric vehicle components is a priority for the government’s industrial strategy.
Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid pledged that his ministry would facilitate necessary procedures to ensure the project meets its scheduled completion date. Mansour credited President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s “Egypt Vision 2030” with fostering development in the industrial sector despite ongoing international and regional challenges.
Why it matters: This project represents a significant effort to localize the electric vehicle supply chain within Egypt. By prioritizing domestic manufacturing of batteries and vehicles, the state aims to reduce dependence on imports and align its industrial sector with global trends toward sustainable, environmentally friendly transportation.
