Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al‑Sisi urged the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) to become an industrial integration platform that merges state manufacturing, private‑sector expertise and foreign investment.
Wednesday meeting with AOI chairman
Al‑Sisi made the remarks during a meeting with Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr, chairman of the AOI. Abu Bakr presented the organisation’s development strategy, outlining plans to expand technological and manufacturing capabilities in both civilian and military projects, according to a presidency statement.
Localisation and export focus
The president instructed the AOI to deepen local manufacturing, localise technology and broaden export markets. He said the body should supply various industrial sectors while participating in development projects across several African countries.
Partnerships and investment
Abu Bakr reviewed AOI projects in mass transit, freight transport and light transportation. He highlighted intentions to expand partnerships with private companies and international manufacturers and to attract additional industrial investment.
Strategic direction
Al‑Sisi directed the AOI to increase production capacity, strengthen private‑sector ties and serve as a platform that combines state capabilities with private expertise and foreign capital to boost Egypt’s industrial competitiveness.
Current status
The AOI is working to localise new manufacturing technologies, open new export markets and engage in African development projects while awaiting implementation of the president’s directives.
Why it matters: The push to turn the AOI into an integration platform aims to raise Egypt’s manufacturing output, create jobs and reduce reliance on imports, a priority for the country’s economy and for regional supply chains.
