Lenskart reported a net profit of Rs 227 crore for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, more than double the Rs 102 crore earned in the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter reached Rs 2,845 crore, up 36% year on year.
The profit surge was driven by higher eyewear volumes, premiumisation of products and stronger demand both in India and overseas. Domestic revenue grew 35.3% to Rs 1,668 crore, supported by a 26.5% rise in eyewear volumes and increased sales of premium lenses. Same‑store sales rose 20.8%, compared with 14.8% a year earlier, across metros and Tier I and II+ markets.
International revenue climbed 29.5% as the retailer expanded its footprint abroad. In India, Lenskart added 143 stores, including 94 in Tier II+ markets, and entered 61 new cities, bringing its network to 2,868 stores in 665 cities.
Operational Highlights
The company conducted 8 million eye tests globally, a 40.4% increase from the prior year. It maintained a consolidated product margin of 70%, up from 69.2% despite rupee depreciation. In‑house frame manufacturing rose 71.7% YoY and lens manufacturing grew 52.2%, helping offset currency pressures and improve cost control.
Lenskart operates a manufacturing plant in Bhiwadi and is building a second facility in Hyderabad. Remote optometry services are now available in 934 stores, up from 303 a year ago. AI tools are being deployed for customer service, employee training, inventory planning and manufacturing.
AI Smart Glasses Expansion
During the quarter, the retailer expanded distribution of its AI‑enabled smart glasses, B by Lenskart, to more than 500 stores and online channels across India.
Why it matters: Lenskart’s rapid profit growth and store expansion signal a strengthening eyewear market in India and the region, while its investment in AI and local manufacturing may influence pricing, product availability and technology adoption for consumers in the Middle East and Egypt.
