Award-Winning Film ‘La Gradiva di Atlan’ to Screen at Alice nella Città After Cannes Success

Italian director Atlan’s film La Gradiva di Atlan will be shown at the Alice nella Città festival following its award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Screenings and release

The festival program lists the film for its upcoming run in the city, after which it will move to commercial cinemas. Organizers said the screening will highlight the movie’s exploration of adolescence set against the ruins of Pompeii.

Film theme and background

La Gradiva di Atlan juxtaposes youthful experience with the timeless landscape of the ancient site. The narrative follows young characters navigating personal growth while the backdrop of Pompeii’s preserved ruins underscores themes of permanence and change.

The Cannes award, announced earlier this year, recognized the film’s artistic merit. Festival officials noted that the accolade brings international attention to the production and its director.

Next steps

After its festival showing, the film is slated for a theatrical release in Italian cinemas. Distributors plan a nationwide rollout, though specific dates have not been confirmed.

Why it matters: The film’s Cannes recognition and upcoming public screenings bring attention to Italian cinema and cultural heritage sites such as Pompeii, offering regional audiences insight into contemporary storytelling that connects historic landmarks with modern youth experiences.
