Meesho Reports Q2 Net Loss Narrowing to ₹132 Crore

E-commerce platform Meesho reported a 68% reduction in its consolidated net loss for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, citing revenue growth that outpaced rising expenses. The company’s net loss fell to ₹132.5 crore, compared to ₹411.4 crore during the same period the previous year.

September Quarter Performance

Meesho’s operating revenue reached ₹4,131.6 crore, representing a 34% increase year-on-year and an 11% rise compared to the previous quarter. When including other income of ₹127.4 crore, the company’s total income for the quarter stood at ₹4,259 crore, up 31% from the ₹3,254.9 crore recorded in the same period a year ago.

Factors Influencing Loss Reduction

The company noted that the year-on-year reduction in loss was partly driven by the absence of exceptional expenses incurred in the prior year. During the second quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, Meesho faced ₹45 crore in costs related to a business combination and a vendor dispute settlement, alongside a ₹64.4 crore tax charge. These expenses did not recur in the current quarter. Before accounting for tax and exceptional items, the company’s loss narrowed by 57% to ₹123.3 crore from ₹285.5 crore a year earlier.

Rising Operational Costs

Despite the revenue gains, total expenses for the company rose 24% to ₹4,382.3 crore in the September quarter, up from ₹3,540.4 crore in the year-ago period. While the net loss improved significantly on an annual basis, it remained relatively stable compared to the ₹132.8 crore loss reported in the June quarter.

Current Financial Standing

Meesho continues to balance aggressive revenue expansion with ongoing operational spending. The company maintains a trend of narrowing annual losses while managing the costs associated with its scale of operations.

Why it matters: The results highlight the ongoing efforts of Indian e-commerce firms to balance growth with profitability. For the broader market, Meesho’s ability to control exceptional expenses while increasing revenue serves as a key indicator of the sector’s evolving financial discipline.
