Pine Labs Reports 6.5x Profit Surge in Q2 FY27

Fintech firm Pine Labs reported a 6.5-fold increase in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, reaching Rs 38.6 crore. The company’s revenue rose 24% year-on-year to Rs 806 crore, compared to Rs 650 crore in the same period last year.

CEO Amrish Rau attributed the financial performance to growth in both acceptance and issuing services. According to the company, 15% of total revenue originated from global markets, while 14% came from products launched within the last two years.

Operational Growth and Metrics

Pine Labs processes more than 25 million transactions daily, a 22% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s online payments division grew by over 45%, while gross transaction value (GTV) increased by 140%. This GTV growth was driven by expansion into agentic commerce, cross-border payments, government segments, and small and medium-sized businesses.

The company operates across more than 22 markets. Revenue from Southeast Asia increased by approximately 40% year-on-year. In the UAE, daily transaction volumes exceeded 100,000.

Strategy and Future Outlook

Pine Labs is integrating artificial intelligence into its operations, noting that AI agents now contribute to roughly 89% of its code changes. The company intends to reinvest efficiency gains from these AI implementations into developing new products and expanding into additional geographies.

The company is increasing brand investment to establish itself as commerce infrastructure for the global south. Future plans include the deployment of 1 million soundboxes over the medium term and the development of agentic commerce solutions. Rau stated the company intends to capitalize on the opening of a UPI monetization window.

Why it matters: Pine Labs’ expansion into international markets, particularly its growth in the UAE and Southeast Asia, signals an increasing footprint for the Indian fintech provider across emerging economies. The company’s focus on commerce infrastructure for the global south suggests a strategic pivot toward becoming a foundational payment technology provider for businesses in developing regions.
