Cairo, Sept 29 (Reuters) – Leading developers, government officials and industry experts are advancing a proposal to create an Egyptian federation of real estate developers aimed at strengthening regulation and coordination in the sector.
The idea was discussed at Invest-Gate’s 29th roundtable, titled “Towards an Egyptian Real Estate Developers Federation,” which gathered senior officials, developers and specialists to examine the role of a professional body in representing developers, supporting self‑regulation and improving cooperation with authorities.
Participants said a unified federation could provide a structured platform for dialogue with government institutions, contribute to regulatory policy development and set clearer professional standards. They also highlighted potential benefits such as enhanced governance, transparency, knowledge sharing, dispute‑resolution mechanisms and consumer protection.
Draft Law and Legal Framework
The discussions coincide with the government’s work on a draft law that would regulate the real estate market and formalise the federation. The draft covers developer registration, classification, professional standards, governance, representation, customer protection and activity regulation.
