Egypt exported chocolate and cocoa‑based food preparations worth about $251 million in 2025, according to the Food Export Council. The figure reflects a 64% rise in value over 2024 and a 38% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2020 to 2025.
The council reported that roughly 33,000 tonnes were shipped, placing Egypt tenth among global exporters with a 3% share of worldwide trade. Saudi Arabia was the top destination, importing products valued at around $87 million, or 35% of the total. The United Arab Emirates followed with $37 million (15%), Kuwait with $18 million (7%), the United Kingdom with $15 million (6%) and Qatar with $12 million (5%). Together, the five markets accounted for about $169 million, or 67.3% of Egypt’s exports in the category.
Growth Drivers
Export volumes grew at a 17% CAGR over the same five‑year period, driven by expanding demand in Arab states and broader international markets. Industry observers attribute the surge to increased production capacity, competitive pricing and targeted marketing of Egyptian chocolate brands abroad.
Outlook
The council said the sector aims to deepen its presence in existing markets while seeking new destinations for processed food products. Continued growth could further boost Egypt’s share of global cocoa‑based food exports.
